Taking Care of Chickens |
|
Taking care of chickens can be quite pleasant,
In the summertime,
When the grass is green,
And the breeze is warm.
They strut.
They cluck.
They skitter here…
And scatter there…
Chickens, chickens everywhere.
They get excited over little things
Like crawly bugs,
And slimy worms,
Blades of grass that,
dangle from your fingertips.
But taking care of chickens in the wintertime,
When the snow is deep,
And the wind is hard and cold.
That’s another story.
That's when I’d prefer to be indoors,
Writing about chickens,
…instead.
