Bookroom: Mark Scheel

Silent Auction Head: Maryann Barry

D2's focal point has been directed at securing a variety of presenters for the state convention hosted in Lawrence Friday, Sept. 30th -Sunday, 0ct. 2nd, at The Holidome. The hotel changes its name to The Doubletree Inn in May. We are marketing to KAC to youth/families. One-fourth plus of the presentations will be directed specifically with them in mind.

D2 has moved youth awards from Friday evening to early Saturday afternoon. (this should help families across the state with travel time, attending presentations, and include additional KAC members in attendance for youth awards)

Plans are being made to host a reading, open to the public on Friday evening to garner additional interest in the convention and to help authors sell books. (we will still have a book room and silent auction)

Convention cost - early bird registration - is $110 by September 1st, and $125 for registration following. Walk-ins will be accepted but registration for meals will need to be made by September 26th.

  • District 2 will once again host a Book Room in which KAC authors/members only will be allowed to sell their books. .Mark Scheel is Book Room manager. Contact Mark with a list of your books, your name, the number of books you'll bring, and the price for each book. Authors selling their books in the Book Room will be individually responsible for working with the Kansas Department of Revenue in paying sales tax on their books sold.
Mark would like you to register your books with him by Sat., Sept. 24th!
  • District 2 will also hold a Silent Auction, should members care to donate something toward that end. Maryann Barry is our Silent Auction chair. Contact Maryann with what you are willing to contribute and when you'll get the items to her.
